He also gets a change of headgear and if finding his best form again he would have every chance off a one pound lower mark than for his last win. My main modus operandi is attempting to identify horses running at bigger odds than I believe their form warrants. Occasionally however I take note of a horse that is shorter in the betting than their form would justify, possibly suggesting that connections expect an improved showing. Such is the case with Dixie Flyer who never featured when finishing last of eleven at Exeter last time. Even allowing for a prior absence of nearly three months it was still a very moderate effort yet he has shortened up in several bookmaker's lists today. Perhaps the first time blinkers are expected to bring about improvement. In any event I'm happy to follow the money.

Three wins over today's course and distance confirm his liking for the venue, and he has to be of interest competing off a career low mark, six pounds lower than when gaining the second of two wins last July.

Useful handicap hurdler but was no slouch on the flat in his younger days, winning a maiden handicap over two miles when with Mark Johnston. Has raced predominantly over hurdles since, including two races this year for his most recent handler, following a lengthy lay-off, which should have him primed for today's race, his first on the level since leaving Gary Moore's stable in 2021. Has improved over hurdles since then so may well be ahead of his lowly flat mark.

More exposed than most but her best form last year stands comparison with anything else achieved by her less experienced rivals. The stable has always believed in racing their horses, rather than have them standing at home in their boxes. She may have been over the top when disappointing in the Rockfel at Newmarket on her final outing since can be forgiven her performance. Just because she was more busy at two than her rivals doesn't mean she hasn't progressed over the winter, and her double figure odds look too big to overlook.
