What is Dota 2?

A sequel to Defense of the Ancients, DOTA 2 is a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game that was released in 2013 after four years of development.

The aim of the game is to destroy your opponent's 'Ancient' which is a large structure, there are two teams, each consisting of five players.

Whilst trying to destroy your opponent's 'Ancient' you also at the same time have to defend your own 'Ancient' making it a very strategic game.

Each player controls a 'Hero' character which is selected at the start of the game and with each achievement during gameplay, they can unlock abilities and improve their 'Hero'.

This is one of the major players when it comes to eSports, in four years (2013-17) there was over $100m earned at tournaments which made it the top-earning eSport game at the time.
