Ryan M rider of Aiden O's Chief Little Rock rides the Epsom track better than any jockey since the immortal Lester I reckon it is a sighter for some of Aiden's bigger guns Defiance would have been my selection to turn over the favourite given that so many of Aiden's horses need an outing but so do Varian's so a small bet on Bellum Justum is my fancy it has not been out for over 250 days and who knows how much improvement has taken place in those winter months it may be business as usual for Ballydoyle I dont mind an odds on but not happy at this stage of the turf season

Ruth Carr seldom ventures to Epsom and she has a pretty fair record here with the small number of runners she does have Jojo at first glance would not have the speed needed for this Epsom being on a chalk base drains quickly and I would imagine at the time of racing it will be good ground .This is a decent class 3 so represents a rise in grade for the selection but at this stage of the season it may be a possible .In sprints as you know you need a bullet here and course form is useful I do not think the selection has any but has returned decent speed figures on ocassions .A few seasons ago Mountain Peak and Mondammaj would have been well fancied and are still dangers at prices but with 4 places I will have a small interest in the Carr runner

This is a terrific race chock full of horses who will improve and win races I am going against my own dictum and backing a horse first time out despite it being trained by Aiden O who does not always have them pitch perfect first time up an expensive yearling and a brother to Little Big Bear I expect him to be good enough unless the pack holds a real star

Ran second in a group 2 at Ascot in June last year then beaten in a four horse run by Pocklington on the all weather in March .I do not know why it was off so long it was odds on in Pocklingtons race but Pocklington may be decent and the horse lost no caste in my eyes by being beaten and is a decent price to get back on track

The price is huge considering it is a course and distance winner it has been off track for about 3 months and at 8 years of age you could argue it will need the run I have no idea Ronald Harris likes a winner here and so does Liam Keniry the track needs a horse and jockey that understand it if that makes sense and if it is a going day has a decent shout with 4 places on offer

Mr Hampstead ran a decent race at the backend of last season finishing second to a decent Crisford horse however that was on the all weather they were the only two fancied in a small race they pulled well clear which you would expect it cost over a half a million dollars that is starting to become chump change the times were pretty good and providing it is fit because Varians horses seem to need a run is just about a bet

On the horses running behind 2000 Guineas ante post favourite you have to go for John Gosdens horse who was only beaten about 4 and a half lengths in the group 0ne Dewhurst in October by City of Troy who I admit won very easily there is no telling what the winter months have brought with regard to improvement for his rivals any one who may be fit and improved but proven form is what I am going with even though Johnny G does not appear to have his horses in full attack mode at present

Charlie Hills has two in this the highly regarded Garrus ridden by the peerless Ryan M and Mitbaahy ridden by Jamie Spencer now you would anticipate that Ryan is on the first string the trainer still is gearing up and at eight Garrus may need the run Mitbaahy looks to me like a Spencer ride neither horse has been out this year and I just think Mitbaahy is a few points overpriced because it is a horse with definite ability and at five years of age may be in for a productive year

Each way on a 9/4 shot what a muppet. This horse is superbly bred and ran a most promising race at the back end of last season to finish second behind Zoom Zoom a previous winner .Roger had a great deal of patience as a trainer but the sons usually like to get off to a flying start which is understandable so I am assuming the horse is fit the concern with these early season races is how much the others have developed over the winter ,Gracious Leader is one who may be a great deal better than so far seen .Ryan M is in board and a great judge of a horse and handles a horse tenderly if it is not ready so we will now two furlongs out

Backing odds on in a three horse race is a mugs bet even to a small stake I had my biggest bet at the time odds on in a three horse race at Brighton years ago you guessed it .I ended up walking home . However this is a big very nice looking individual and Balding is a straight up trainer I am guessing it leads and 1 to 2 seems an ok price to me but pace is everything in these races It seemed to appreciate six furlongs here in March but the others are no mugs

I am not sure about this race at all why Nap one then ? well I think despite the fact that the race might be ripe for an outsider The first 3 in the betting on known form far outway the others pick one despite Nver Betters win being a close one he gave me the impression that there would be more to come it is not one I would be massively confident about but at 9/4 it is a decent bet prior to the race
