Prior to Gold Cup run he'd had a 273 day break & then won at Gowran Park over 24f back over hurdles so return to smaller obstacles today could see another decent run against some impressive household names & rivals .

He's been the nearly man this year finishing 2nd in his last 3 runs at Warwick over 25f , Newbury over 24f & at Cheltenham last run over 24f all good quality handicaps in which he's been upped 3Lb on each of those runs . One big positive is he's the only CD winner in the field winning class 4 on heavy back in December 2023 so any heavy rogue showers wouldn't go amiss .

She arrives here fresh after 75 day break & missing Cheltenham . She's 6 from 6 so far including winning Bumper here at meeting 12 months ago & has progressed every run since . She's better on a faster surface than she'll be getting on Friday but has won on soft at Cheltenham back in December 2023 . She's a 6 year old which bodes well as 6 year olds have won the last 3 renewals of this race .

Missed over a year & hasn't been the same force of old since but has dropped to a mark of 88 & is due another big run . Trainer C.Williams has a few on today's card & has had a decent season here at the course , the horse is probably better over further than today's trip but the going will make it a stamina test for all .
