He showed up extremely well for a long way in the Imperial Cup at Sandown earlier this month and I think he's got a cracking chance in these calmer waters. Even a reproduction of his penultimate second at Musselburgh makes for strong reading.

There has to be a race in this seven-year-old as his runner-up effort at Hereford in January is really strong form. He was disappointing last time out, but hopefully blinkers squeeze all the potential out of him.

He should have learned plenty from his handicap bow when coming home in fourth over C&D last month, where I don't think he enjoyed that really deep ground. That was a fair race and they've got the gelded son of Sea The Stars at too big a price here.

This veteran may never win again as his current stable aren't exactly the greatest. Regardless, he loves this place and is a good 20lb below his last winning mark. Hopefully a return to this venue with refitted cheekpieces can spark him back to life for a final swansong.
