Some decent staying types win this race, Kittys Light won it last year before winning the Bet365 Gold Cup and latterly doing well in the Grand National. Surrey Quest mightnt be that good but would have been bought with these valuable staying handicaps in mind and is unexposed, having just 6 runs over fences, winning twice both for this yard. I like Kevin Brogan as a jockey and with ground conditions to suit could run a big race

Archie Watson isnt really firing at the minute but I suspect that with a recent run, Army Ethos could go well today in a valuable pot. He was turned over at long odds on on the Allweather last time out but the winner could be decent. Army Ethos won on debut before finishing a tight second in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot with a number of next time out winners from that race and Aidan O Briens winner finished 3rd in the Group 1 Prix De Morny. Good draw in my eyes today and could go well

A short price to follow up his breakthrough success over jumps but could go off even shorter, Grain Doudairies won a novice hurdle here 18 months ago, then has won a handicap hurdle since and a handicap chase last time out, hit with a 10 pound rise for that but might have more progression in him yet

He has ran 5 times, placed in 3 including when 2nd here on debut on Heavy and 2nd to Givemethebeatboys at Navan with 5 of the 12 runners that day going on to win races, Each Way chance off a low weight

Taking a chance here on Swinging Safari for Sam Curling, who won this race last year with a horse then sold on to Harry Fry, the year before this race was won by Hansard so it can throw up a decent sort. Harry Swan rides this Walk in the Park and he is 2 wins from his last 4 rides and claims a valuable 5 pound

Hard to gauge Primoz and if this opening mark is lenient or not but he bolted up in a course and distance maiden with the 2nd that day winning twice since and the 3rd winning next time out. Primoz then disappointed in next 2 starts but one of those was a valuable pot won by Kamsinas so it underlines what the yard think of this horse. Lucinda Russell Yard has gone quiet but they like this meeting and I'm hoping he can bounce back to form

With 4 places on offer could be worth chancing one at a price, low drawn horses have been slightly preferred at this meeting even if they run centre and Love De Vega is drawn 4, a typical Johnston horse could try and force the pace which is another positive for his chances. He has won twice on the All weather in recent months and could back that up back on turf

Owen Burrows probably doesn't have the firepower he used to and hasn't had any runners in the last 2 weeks so it's hard to gauge how the yard is but his horses generally come on for the run and See The Green ran too green on debut 17 days ago on the AW in a slightly higher class than today, if coming on for the run then could be involved in the business end. Owen Burrows has only had 6 runners at Ripon in his career with 2 winners and 2 places

There is a fair few interesting runners here including Henry de Bromheads Emotivo. She didn't pull up any trees on the flat and has only had 3 runs over hurdles but her last run was at Hereford and she finished 2 and a half lengths behind today's rival Spiced rum and now has a 6 pound swing with that one today. Plenty of other horses in todays field with chances but Emotivo could have a big run in her

I always like a Paul Midgely sprinter and Burning Cash is another one of those, all his races have been over this sort of trip with all 3 of his wins too. Returned to auction this season with a decent 2nd on the AW before disappointing last time but I think that's factored into his price today and is capable of a better run today under Jason Hart who rides for the first time

An open race, Royal Pretender will appreciate being reunited with Tom Cannon who has 2 wins, 2 wins and a 3rd from 7 rides when riding him. He hasn't won since 2021, which was at Plumpton but handicapper hasn't eased off on him hut he's now below his last winning mark. His better form is over slightly shorter trips than today's but from this yard that doesn't concern me.

Only the 3 runners and I'd be keen to take on Toothless with Fiston de Becon who has done well for Olly Murphy since arriving from Ireland winning 2 hurdle races last year and opening his account last time out over fences and at the weights has a decent chance of backing that up with the yard operating at 25% strikerate in the last fortnight and fresh off Grade 1 success yesterday

Could be worth risking one at a bigger price here, Landrake was formerly with Gordon Elliot and was decent enough during his Novice campaign winning a maiden and a Novice hurdle, he moved yards and was sent chasing to no effect but returned to hurdling he might be seen in better light and on RPRs and Official ratings over hurdles he is worth another shot

A classy race with a number of horses thay have a chance but we could get a surprise if one of the top 2 don't perform so I'm chancing Nemean Lion who has made rapid progress since arriving from France, where he finished 2nd in a Group 2 on the flat. He has ran 9 times over hurdles for Kerry Lee, winning 4 including the Grade 2 Kingwell hurdle then finished 7th in the Champion hurdle, but to me the step up to 2m4f here will benefit him as was seen in the Lanzarote Hurdle where he finished 2nd in January. A big ask for him to win here but looks set to play a part

He won over 2 miles and 1 mile 5 furlong last season both at Left handed tracks like today and Jason Hart who is in alright form gets the leg up for the first time, warmed up for a season on the turf with a spin on the All weather a few weeks ago and might be there at the end

Aerospace didnt win for the Gosdens but only ran twice in 2 years, once behind Deauville Legend who went on to greater things. Aerospace moved to Archie Watson and on forst run for nearly 700 days beat a 4/11 shot by 4 lengths. Hollie Doyle gets the chance to ride for the first time and should follow up that win

Jeremy Scott is doing well with 4 winners from last 10 runners and he has a good record at Exeter in the last 12 months with a 33% strikerate, 8 wins from 24 runners with a further 6 placed

Finished second to Sir Rock who could win more races. A couple in behind that day have run well since too, with one winning yesterday.
