Greta Thunberg now somewhat of an outsider for the Nobel Peace Prize at 16/1
Vogue Scandinavia recently featured Greta Thunberg on the cover of their magazine, with their article inside including Thunberg accusing some companies of 'greenwash' ad campaigns which were there to make their clothes appear more sustainable, while not actually doing so.
Thunberg has been as low as 3/1 with some bookmakers for the Nobel Peace Prize, with the environmental activist tipped to win the award when the nominees were announced back in January.
Nominee | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
World Health Organization | 5/4 | 44.4% |
Alexei Navalny | 21/10 | 32.3% |
Black Lives Matter | 5/1 | 16.7% |
Jacinda Ardern | 10/1 | 9.1% |
UNHCR | 12/1 | 7.7% |
Greta Thunberg | 16/1 | 5.9% |
The World Health Organization are big favourites following their work during the Coronavirus pandemic
With a 44.4% probability with bookmakers, it's fair to say that the World Health Organisation has a great chance at winning the Nobel Peace Prize.
Up there as one of the favourites for the prize last year too, the WHO have kept on helping people through the pandemic over the last year and that's part of the reason why they're so high.
The WHO could be usurped for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2021, trying to follow the World Food Program's award in 2020. Alexei Navalny's significant move in the betting odds could be telling though.

Their dashboard has been a key way to see how many cases there currently are in the world, how many new cases are being counted each day and how many deaths there have been from the virus.
This has helped countless people see spikes, where the virus is at its deadliest and much more.
Alexei Navalny a close second favourite in the odds with bookmakers
Russian activist Alexei Navalny was named for his "efforts for a peaceful democratisation of Russia," with Navalny one of president Vladimir Putin's harshest critics.
The activist is currently serving a 2 and a half year sentence for parole violations and is currently having a new criminal charge put against him by Russian authorities for 'inciting Russians to break the law'.
At 21/10, Navalny is the second favourite to win the Nobel Peace Prize award and bookmakers are expecting him to be there or thereabouts for it.
Interestingly Black Lives Matter also sits as one of the favourites for the award, with the BLM movement featuring predominantly across the world over the last 18 months.
Marches, taking the knee and much more have helped the Black Lives Matter movement become one of the most popular there has been in our generation.
