Nice thread here. I have been using it for the past five years i believe..I was not really active in my first three years here but i would say that definitely it has been helpful to me over the years. Being from Kenya i thought this site was a unique idea and i have been proven right. Useful tips, excellent blogs and of course the bonus which comes with getting a few pounds if you are a winner.
Keep it up OLBG Team.

For me it's been exactly five years of becoming a tipster on OLBG, having discovered the site a few months earlier. It's kinda funny because I registered and then for some reason I thought it was with money so was inactive for a while until I had more time in my hands and decided to dig deeper to find out it was for FREE!!! I was a winner in two football competitions the first month I started tipping and it got me hooked. Needless to say haven't made an absence ever since. :D Haven't been too involved with the forum, but lately have decided to dedicate more time to it, maybe to make up for decreased activity.

In October it will be five years for me. Not been very active on the forum as there isn't that much going on these days especially if you not into horse racing. Doing my tips on regular basis with different outcomes. It is all about football for me and I would like to start a blog but not sure if it is worth it.. Forum is like a ghost town..

Alright folks. Was having a quick browse through the forum as I don't really use it any more and saw this. I had to have a look and couldn't believe that it has been 11 years!! I think I found the site by pure chance while searching for casino systems and I learned a lot from this site in the early days, esp things like useless systems!! I remember a lot of posters like BetfairAlfie, deco121, KilkennyKat, Fairfranco, swashbuckler, aidanlrebin, Liverpool1985, redboy, burgeo, MOB, merlin, shrews et al. I don't know how many are still about but they were really helpful individuals and the community was in full flow. For me it started with the death of the poker community, then the football ground to a halt, the golf ceased to exist and finally the horse racing waned.

I'm not sure if they all just ran their course or if olbg shot themselves in the foot with far too many forum comps and over-regulation as this for me stifled the organic nature and success of it all to begin with. Take the golf for example, The Rabbit used to do sterling work on that front, post up the detailed info early and got the ball rolling with a few selections then a few posters would join in and possibly have a back and forth on some selections. Once the 'golfer of the week' came in it finished off this small (but quality) segment of the forum and, for me at least, it now boils down to a pick the favourite competition with almost zero discussion and members restricted to one selection and have to have 'X' amount of words etc. There are obviously genuine posters on that thread but the majority are just posting for the sake of the comp which is utterly worthless in my view.

This is why I more or less stopped using olbg last summer after the Irish Open as the thread I created for it was just myself talking the forum walls. It felt to me like the comps had taken over and the majority of the consistent quality posters probably got fed up with lack of discussion and bouncing of ideas and finding angles. It takes time and effort to contribute productively on here and I for one started concentrating my efforts elsewhere for now.

hi madbobmagee,

Sorry to hear you have more or less stopped using OLBG and the forum.

We received feedback from users asking why the player of the week thread had stopped for a couple of months at the beginning of last year so we reintroduced but not for the intention of stopping our golf fans/members from posting on the discussion threads too which they were/are obviously free to do.

We feel the player of the week thread has been informative for readers and hope it continues to be and any additional golf threads for discussion and picks each week is obviously very welcome.

It'll be 10 years for me (thought it about time I added myself to this thread!).

I can't recall why I came to OLBG. I'm trying to think if it was someone mentioned it or I just cam across it via another site. The latter is most likely. Anyway, I quickly got into things because I simply liked the way it was run and operated. That's why I also ended up being a moderator. OLBG has been every good to me, and the days out at Cheltenham, Wetherby, and Doncaster have been tremendous reward for my time put in as moderator. Meeting the likes of Anthony, Nigel, Steve, Loz, and many others just makes the experience all the better.

But... I moved to the USA from Scotland 7 years ago, and the time difference makes it difficult to keep in touch with UK/Europe sports and that's a great sadness to me as I'm gradually losing touch over the years with my beloved horse racing. It's just not the same over here. I've tried to get into it in Texas - I'm only a few miles from Lone Star Park - but it just cannot compare to British horse racing. I looked at the Cheltenham Results/racecards last week and realised I recognised only a few names.

So you may not see me on OLBG very much at all, more likely when the NFL season comes around (and Chip get the OFL back up and running!), but I usually pop on at night over here and clear up anything that might need moderated. I doubt I'll ever leave OLBG. I know it's change recently in terms of forum posting, but I think that's just the way the sire has developed. But I'll always be around, even if in the background, and when you guys are asleep! :win:
