7 this is great, thanks. Someone posted on the postscript or early thoughts GN about Win my Wings, don't know how to phrase this, the grand dam on the sires side Floripedes sire was Topville. Same as Noble Yeats. Looking at Irish National winners that General Principle had the Floripedes/Topville, and referring to KJ's Flemensfirth thoughts, both Liberty counsel 2013 50/1 winner and Wheelin Dylan 150/1 had Alleged on the sires side. I don't know if posting like this on your thread is helpful or not, please advise.

VELVET ELVIS

Thought I’d have a look a this six year old novice before he runs in the Irish National later today.

SHIROCCO
DP = 2-0-10-8-0 (20) DI = 0.54 CD = -0.20
Conduit Mare Profile = 2-4-5-12-7 Speed = 6 Stamina = 19 Index = 0.42 Triads = 11-21-24

TREEN
DP = 4-1-11-3-1 (20) DI = 1.11 CD = 0.20
Conduit Mare Profile = 6-6-1-5-9 Speed = 12 Stamina = 14 Index = 0.79 Triads = 13-12-15

There are a few things that put me off this one as a potential Aintree contender. Shirocco has had a winner over four miles in Minella Rocco but he was a very classy horse who together with Native River were entitled to finish 1 and 2 in that race off levels. Shirocco’s speed, stamina and index figures are not in line with what has gone before.

The dam looks like she has a bit of speed in there. So, with Shirocco looking to have a five mile pedigree (!) and Treen having a much speedier pedigree perhaps they are a perfect match but you suspect one influence may outweigh the other and usually it’s the dam.

We will see later.

VAUCELET

I have no idea how decent this horse is. I’ve only looked at him because out of so many horses that ran this weekend, his jumping was what I remember most. He looked so effortless over his obstacles, particularly mid race.

He’s a bit leftfield and I suspect his trainer will keep him to Hunter Chases but just in case he is decent and doesn’t stick to those races, then there’s no arguing his pedigree credentials.

The stallion has already had a dual winner of the race and the dam looks absolutely ideal too. Can’t fault the pedigree one bit.

An interesting dark horse.

AUTHORIZED
DP = 4-0-24-14-0 (42) DI = 0.62 CD = -0.14
Conduit Mare Profile = 3-6-2-13-4 Speed = 9 Stamina = 17 Index = 0.61 Triads = 11-21-19

PEGGY PIERJI
DP = 1-0-6-3-0 (10) DI = 0.67 CD = -0.10
Conduit Mare Profile = 5-4-4-8-6 Speed = 9 Stamina = 14 Index = 0.75 Triads = 13-16-18

STATTLER

Have already commented on the stallion in a previous post. Ideal fit but still not entirely convinced. Remains to be seen what the NH Chase form is truly worth.

STOWAWAY
DP = 2-1-10-3-6 (22) DI = 0.57 CD = -0.45
Conduit Mare Profile = 3-4-5-11-5 Speed = 7 Stamina = 16 Index = 0.58 Triads = 12-20-21

OUR HONEY
DP = 2-0-6-4-0 (12) DI = 0.71 CD = 0.00
Conduit Mare Profile = 1-5-6-11-6 Speed = 6 Stamina = 17 Index = 0.45 Triads = 12-22-23

The dam’s figures are not ideal. The stamina figure does not fall in line with those that have gone before and neither does the Index.

My gut feeling based on the above is nope.

SOUNDS RUSSIAN

Better have a look given this horse’s progression.

The stallion is an almost perfect fit for a Grand National winning stallion. The only figures that are not quite in keeping are the CD and DI figures, which are a little higher than ideal. The Index figure and DP are perfect.

SHOLOKHOV
DP = 8-4-22-8-0 (42) DI = 1.21 CD = 0.29
Conduit Mare Profile = 4-5-4-9-7 Speed = 9 Stamina = 16 Index = 0.63 Triads = 13-18-20

REEVOLESA
DP = 4-2-2-0-0 (8) DI = 7.00 CD = 1.25
Conduit Mare Profile = 7-3-3-11-5 Speed = 10 Stamina = 16 Index = 0.83 Triads = 13-17-19

The speed and stamina figures look ok (highest stamina figure is 15 thus far). The index, DI and CD figures are too high however. That tempers enthusiasm on a pedigree front.

The stallion is one you couldn’t discount on paper over marathon trips though.

Now we know he is an intended runner and will get in off his current mark, best look at Cape Gentleman.

CHAMPS ELYSSES
DP = 3-4-17-1-1 (26) DI = 1.48 CD = 0.27
Conduit Mare Profile = 3-6-2-13-5 Speed = 9 Stamina = 18 Index = 0.56 Triads = 11-21-20

HAWAIIAN HEAT
DP = 4-0-24-12-0 (40) DI = 0.67 CD = -0.10
Conduit Mare Profile = 2-6-3-9-11 Speed = 8 Stamina = 20 Index = 0.38 Triads = 11-18-23

The stallion looks ok as a potential source for a winner and in the main falls within the updated boundaries of previous winning stallions. Where he doesn’t is in the DI figure of 1.48. That’s way too high at this time.

The dam is just ridiculous but is this the way that CMP’s are going to shift with Galileo becoming an ever increasing influence in the sport? The stamina figure of 20 is a massive 5 points beyond any previous winning dam. On that alone you have to think this rules Cape Gentleman out.
