The Seven Pillars Conduit Mares Profile Blog

Postby The Seven Pillars of Wisdom » Fri Jan 13, 2023 9:55 pm

The purpose of this thread is to highlight some potential under the radar horses that wouldn’t necessarily go in your tracker but may pay to be in there. I base this on the Conduit Mare Profile (CMP) figures and of course visuals. It’s certainly not an exact science but can be a decent indicator.

Primarily I like to focus on stayers. The further the distance, shallower is the pool of horses that can stay. That’s my take anyway.

In another thread on here I highlighted the first horse I want to mention that has already won two races this season, but I highlighted her after her runners up run at Ludlow behind Poetic Music.

DOLLAR BAE has won both times since over the minimum trip including her handicap debut off a lowly mark of 101. But everything about her seems to suggest that three miles will be her game.

The first three dam’s in her line fit the perfect Index range I like to see which is between 0.58-0.71.

They are,

MOLLY ROUND 0.68
MONDEO ROSE 0.64
RIVALMA 0.62

I don’t know where she will end up but she is in my tracker and I think she is only going to get better when stepped up in trip.

Her P2P win didn’t achieve a great RPR in the grand scheme of things but she couldn’t have done much more after her main rival that day fell when she came to challenge him.

I’m hoping she will be at least a 140’s mare.

CARNFUNNOCK

Seemed to be put in his place last time having impressed in his previous two starts. A loss doesn’t put me off. All National Hunt horses lose.

It the Conduit Mares Profile Index figures for the first four dam’s that make me think he could be better than we have given him credit for.

He has showed a decent turn of foot it has to be said but the four dam’s suggest he will stay a lot further. Its quite rare for the first four dam’s to fit a specific range but here they are.

SIMPLY ERIN 0.64
SIMPLY BELLINGHAM 0.64
DRAMATIC DAME 0.67
LOVELY STRANGER 0.62

In fact Carnfunnock in his own right has an Index of 0.63 as shown below. It’s an exciting pedigree. However, the Triads figures are something else I have highlighted on another thread. Where the middle figure is greater than the final figure, such as in this case, it suggests that when riding him more use will need to be made of him during the race i.e. either race prominently, set a decent pace in a bid to get those behind out of their comfort zone earlier or strike for home early and hope to fight of the closers.

Conduit Mare Profile = 3-5-4-12-4 Speed = 8 Stamina = 16 Index = 0.63 Triads = 12-21-20

He is going to be an interesting horse going forward and I really want to see him tried over further.

One thing under review with this Triads business where the figures don’t ascend in order is whether a flatter track is more beneficial to these horses.

ROCK MY WAY

Gave the much more fancied Getaway gelding Weveallbeencaught a bit of fright last time out and like Carnfunnock this one’s first four dams all fall within the perfect CMP Index range.

FAR ROCK 0.60
MISS FARA 0.58
FARACHA 0.69
SERBIE 0.66

He’s only five and there is so much potential in this one. The major staying influence of Umidwar is in the dam’s direct lineage which is also great to see.

He is no forlorn hope in the Albert Bartlett and three miles and well beyond beckons for this one in time. Personally I would like to see him given a Coneygree style ride at some point.

PANDA BOY

Well fancied in the Paddy Power and ran well but all roads I suspect lead to Fairyhouse now after this run or possibly a Festival handicap. This one’s dam side boasts 4 out of the first five falling within the ideal range

BALLYMARINTHEATRE 0.70
LADY SPLASH 0.58
CREEL INN 0.62
DARRICA 0.63

If he does turn up for the Irish National then he is of serious interest. The mark looks ideal. He’s still only seven and improving and an extreme trip seems well within his compass.

Funnily enough three of the first four dam’s in the 50/1 winner of the Paddy Power that day also fell within the ideal Index range.

MONTGOMERY

Four of the first five dams in Montgomery fit the profile I am looking at. Hasn’t run since October. It’s not clear whether there is a problem but working on the basis that there isn’t, he is a horse worth keeping an eye on based on his pedigree.

By and large the progeny of his sire, Soldier Of Fortune, have been struggling in the winter ground with only a handful of exceptions. They look like a progeny made for good ground, so come Spring and Summer there may be some very well handicapped Soldier Of Fortune’s.

Montgomery began his career with a very good run in his bumper behind Outlaw Peter when with Tom Lacey. He then stayed on very well to win his debut over timber after for his new yard.

Nothing heard of him since but he is in the tracker.

SCRUM DIDDLY

Only four and to be honest this is one of those selections that could go horribly wrong but must keep the faith.

This Malinas has not shown a lot of ability under rules but the pedigree looks good for the day that he goes three miles. Ran well in his second P2P but these Malinas horses are hardly ever precocious four year olds

First four dams have index readings of 0.67, 0.65, 0.64 and 0.69. All look good there.

This is a slow burner. Handicaps and three miles should hopefully see a return.
