Allsvenskan League Format & Previous Winners

Swedish football has a myriad of leagues with the Allsvenskan the top tier of Swedish football, and the Superettan the second tier.

The season due to the weather and short days runs from late March or April time to the beginning of November.  The Swedish Allsvenskan League was founded in 1924 and has run continuously since that date.

Promotion places are available from the Superettan and teams can be relegated from the Allsvenskan. Each of the 16 clubs meets each other twice, which is 30 competitive games. For further Sweden football information please visit the official Allsvenskan website.

Since 2010 six teams have won the Allsvenskan making the league way more competitive than many other European Leagues. The winners at the end of the Allsvenskan season receive gold medals.

Malmo are the most winning club having won the league on twenty-three occasions which is five more than IFK Göteborg on eighteen.
